G-SHOCK is an abbreviation for Gravitational Shock.

Japan is the home of CASIO and the birthplace of G-SHOCK. The development of G-SHOCK began in 1981 with an engineer’s passion to create a rugged watch that would not break even if dropped. Finally launched in 1983, it was designed to resist mechanical stress, shock and vibration.

G-SHOCK watches are not just tough and fashionable, it is also water-resistant, affordable and has continued to evolve with improved functions and performance. It has virtually no competition in the "tough watch" segment AND there is no downside to owning a G-SHOCK.
